I bought these pants for my son, a budding Arborist, who loves his Arborwear shirts and jackets. This is his first pair of pants and they are very nice. The fabric, quality of construction and features are really well done (color-coded zippers on each leg, lined waistband, special pockets) Having read the previous reviews, I ordered a size larger than normal (36 instead of 34) and they fit him perfectly. So….heed the reviews and purchase accordingly.

These Pants are a shade smaller than 38 but the 32 was true. Fortunately I am somewhat smaller than a 38. I come in at 37 so hence the order for 38. These pants are very well designed. There are three pockets that zip shut. Great for Mexico trips. They feel great.

I’ve got several of Arborwear’s high-end pants, including the previous Convertible Tech Pants in Steel Grey. Those weren’t sewn durably enough, and so over time, I had to make repairs to it (especially sewing down the ends of the zippers). This new pair of Towpath Convertible Pants is far better sewn and designed. It’s clear they took feedback on the previous Convertible Tech Pants and applied it here (as well as answering our requests for Driftwood color).

There is only one warning about these pants: they appear to be sized a tiny bit smaller than Arborwear’s other nylon Tech Pants and the Convertible Tech Pants. While I normally wear 32Wx32L which look and fit right in the legs and are just a bit tight in the waist, these Towpath Convertible Pants were very tight in the waist.

And since at brand new, I have no idea whether or not they will shrink further, I decided to step up to 34Wx32L, which turned out to fit just right. Compare this to my 34Wx32L Tech Pants (in nylon), which were too big and baggy…

So it seems that these Towpaths are consistently sized slightly smaller than labeled. (The other possibility is that all my other Arborwear pants are sized a bit large, but I doubt that.)

I HIGHLY recommend these and other Arborwear pants, though. The polyester-spandex fabric is amazing–much more so than the previous Convertible Pants’ nylon, which seemed to pick up lint and pet hair like crazy. These Towpaths look good enough to wear to the office and still dry fast enough to wear in the stream/river.
