So Far, So Good, January 5, 2013

I have had these gloves for a couple of weeks now and so far, so good. I was looking for a thin glove (not too bulky) for light yard work, walking the dogs, etc. in the Central Texas winters. These gloves work well for my needs so far. I ordered the gloves in XL and they fit very well. My hands are not huge (a little over 3″ index finger and a little over 3.5″ middle finger) and the XL fits perfectly.

    Pros:
I like the velcro wrist strap to snug up the glove around the wrist
Comfortable, not too thick/heavy and allows good movement. The gloves are thin/flexible enough, I can easily tie my shoelace with them on.
Fairly warm. These gloves are not heavy enough to use for extended periods of time in sub-freezing temps, but for Central Texas “cold” weather, they are more than enough.
Price. I got the pair for less than $15, not too bad

    Cons:
None so far, though it would be nice if the whole glove was at least somewhat water resistant. The palms are supposed to be water resistant, but I have only used them once when there was any moisture.

    Summary:
I definitely like the gloves. A good product for the price paid and they fit my needs well.

    Nice Gloves!, November 14, 2012

These gloves are very well made and ideal for short trips around town in the cold. They hug the fingers nicely which makes it easy to handle keys, get the wallet,etc.. Also a nice driving glove. These are made small; I ordered the medium and it was a snug fit, and I don’t have large hands. Overall a nice spandex glove!

I got tired of running through the Firm Grip gloves from HD, so thought I’d give these a try. I’m renovating my house, so I wanted a glove that wasn’t too bulky, would allow me to perform a variety of tasks, and hopefully last more than a couple of weeks. Well, 2 out of 3 ain’t bad I guess. Here’s my breakdown:

Sizing – Some of the other reviewers have said that the gloves fit too tightly. I have pretty big hands so ordered the large. They were tight, but not impossible to get on and off, and seemed to loosen up a little after a few days. They are supposed to be form fitting so that you can do things like pick up small items, etc. All in all I thought the size and the fit was ok. Order a size up if you are really concerned about it.

Versatility – I like how these gloves allow your hands the freedom to move around in a variety of ways. They also allow you to grip things firmly.

Durability – Maybe I’m expecting too much, but these things started falling apart after a couple of weeks. Actually the Velcro strip that goes around your wrist broke after about a week, then the fingers were frayed after two weeks. At one month they were in the garbage. I concede that I’m pretty rough on gloves, but with Carhartt’s reputation I thought they would hold up better.

Miscellaneous – My only other comment is that these gloves left some black mystery gunk embedded underneath my fingernails. It seemed to get better after I wore them a few times but was still annoying.

All in all pretty decent gloves, but didn’t last nearly as long as I had hoped. I guess I’ll just keep looking.
