TEMPERATURE RATING INACCURATE. Castelli rates these at 32-59F. I bought these thinking that would be accurate for my needs: New England fall/winter. It is not. I can only conclude that their temperature rating does not factor in wind. At speeds of 20-35 MPH, these tights do not offer sufficient wind resistance to bike in temperatures of 32-50F (the range I tested them in, which is within the manufacturer’s recommendations). I ended up returning them and buying the Castelli Polare tights, which work wonderfully in freezing, rainy, windy conditions.

SIZES RUN SMALL. The fit is less generous than even their sizing charts indicate. I am 5’8″ 150 lbs. Like most people who are considering spending nearly $200 on bicycle tights, my legs are lean and perhaps larger around than the average non-cyclist. The small barely fit over my thighs; I felt as though I was going to rip it pulling it on. My girlfriend says I’m skinny, but a small of these tights treated my substandard stomach like a bulging beer belly.

SUM: Three stars because it doesn’t work in the temperatures the manufacturer rates it for […]nor does it fit a person with measurements within the manufacturer’s sizing chart ranges.

I ignored all the reviews regarding purchasing a size up. I am glad I did. Though it felt tight pulling up over my thigh area, once on it felt comfy both walking around and especially in the saddle. The Chamois doesn’t move around. I am 5’4 135 lbs and the small is perfect length for me. In around 50 degrees weather in Seattle with some wind it keeps me warm. Will update once I’ve tried it through rain and through the rest of winter.
