Lion Brand’s Amazing yarn is truly amazing. I love the vibrant and variegated colors. Each color of yarn within this line of yarns has more variation than perhaps any other variegated yarn I’ve seen made by a major yarn company. The yarn is also very very soft and a little on the fuzzy side.

Although it is categorized as a Medium (4) weight yarn, I’d say it’s actually more of a sport weight (3) yarn. It’s not a normal worsted weight yarn. I’m making a baby blanket with it and it’s working really well. This is my new favorite yarn!

an amazing yarn, when finished, September 6, 2012
I ordered a three pack of wildflowers amazing yarn. It first I wasn’t too impressed because it was quite heathery and i like bright colors. I knitted a slouchy hat with a double rolled brim and stockenette on the body. The hat turned out beautiful and i am now working on the scarf. The hat took only one skein. The yarn is easy to work with and I am delighted it is washable. I love self striping yarn which this is but most of the yarns i have used have been expensive and not washable. So I give this 5 stars for what it is: an inexpensive, self striping yarn in which the finished product is exquisite and subtle. Not bright like noro but in fact ends up looking more sophisticated and better to wear to work and places where one wants a little sutblty with several colors. And the colors and striping take no work, it is all in the yarn.

Fluffy, beautiful stretches of color, February 12, 2013

Lion Brand is my favorite ‘go-to,’ cheap (but pretty and functional) yarn. I bought 4 skeins of this yarn in Glacier Bay to make the Entrelac Scarf pattern on their website. It turned out beautifully. After blocking, the yarn became very soft. The long strands of color work perfectly for entrelac. Knit on size 9 needles, the scarf is also airy, fluffy, and almost plush. I wear it constantly, and it has easily become my new favorite scarf.

There is one drawback: this yarn sticks to itself like a magnet. Within the first few rows of knitting, I screwed up and had to rip back. I ripped no differently than I do with any other yarn, but this yarn stuck to itself and resulted in a huge knotty, tangled mess that I had to throw away. Thankfully, I had not gotten too far into the project at that point. Afterwards, whenever I had to rip back, I did so somewhat gingerly, tugging more gently and slowly. Problem solved, and I encountered no more tangles.

I uploaded two pics of the scarf in the shared images above, so you can see how the yarn works up if you’ve never used it before. Try it; you’ll love it! 🙂
