FIVE++++FANTASTIC STARS!!! Let me start this one by saying I have a huge girl crush on the main character, Nora! I loved her so much! What a beautiful, intelligent young woman that my heart broke for because underneath it all she was hurting and just wanted to be loved. Might I also mention she is rich too, but money can’t buy happiness and that cannot be more true when you read a book like Very Bad Things.

Nora is in her last year of high school at Briarcrest Academy and she is what you consider a genius with a high IQ. She is tall and thin, plays the piano, has won several spelling bees and even a few pageants. Her mother made sure she was the epitome of perfection in every way. Sadly her mother failed miserably at what a mother is supposed to do for their child and I hated her for that.

But, Nora has secrets and she has lost herself quite possibly gone mad. She is drinking and partying. She has also made this list of bad things she wants to do and I was intrigued. I wanted to know her secrets.

Her mother and father are always gone and Nora is left alone. She also has a brother Finn who she did not have the best relationship with and I just new in the beginning he was trouble.

Nora is practically on her own but deep down she is so lonely and it made me so very sad! She had her quirks like we all do and what really tripped me out was her thing for words! She also people watches and quite frankly I was enamored by her.

After a particular episode at school, that is witnessed by all, we are introduced to Leo Tate and his younger brother Sebastian. They are new in town and Sebastian will be going to Briarcrest Academy. Leo, however is older, about 25, and Sebastian’s guardian since their parents were killed. Leo is gorgeous but of course, doesn’t do relationships. “I never met a girl I couldn’t say goodbye to.” He watches Nora from across the room at open house at the school, he thinks she is spoiled, rich and doesn’t have a clue about the real world but boy is he wrong. “Nora Blakely was everything I avoided when it came to girls. Her kind expected love and commitments, two things I’d run away from a long time ago.”

Nora had pretty much shocked the you know what out of every one at open house including Leo and a little while later they had a stare down in the parking lot but it wouldn’t be until a very tipsy Nora is in the process of committing a crime when they meet again.

Everything clicked in my head, and I knew him. He was the one, the gorgeous guy from the open house whose gaze had been the glue that held me together in the parking lot.

These two had that connection but Leo thought it be best to be friends and nothing more, after all he was too old for her but could he stay away? Even though Nora had her secrets, she was brave and didn’t lie about how she felt. She never ceased to amaze me. The easy banter she had with Sebastian and Leo was funny and heartwarming. Sebastian and Nora became very good friends as well, he even fell in love with her but in a different way. She was able to confide in him and you might of thought it was possible that they could have something. Even Leo thought they had something until Sebastian set him straight.

Then there was Tiffani with an “i” lol. She is Leo’s whatever you wanna call it and she drove me crazy! He was with her because Leo claimed she knew there would be nothing more. Over time though, the buildup and angst that Leo and Nora shared was heated and spectacular. The more he tried to convince himself he didn’t want her the more he did.

There was no denying his feelings but he could and did manage to hurt Nora and push her away. Then a love from her past, Drew, is back in the picture and he wants another chance. Nora is still hurt and in love with Leo but feels like there is no chance. “Why was he my Romeo, but I wasn’t his Juliet?”

Does Nora finally face her demons and reveal her secrets? Does Leo give in to what he can’t deny or will Nora give Drew another chance?

Go buy this awesome book to find out all these answers and I promise it will be so worth it. This can be read as a standalone and there is an HEA. It is an awesome book with fantastic writing and lovable characters. There is not one negative thing I have to say about it. I could read about these characters FOR.EVER!! A couple more of my favorite quotes and there were a ton of them. “I know nothing with any certainty, but the sight of stars makes me dream.” “We all have a choice in life, to either quit or try again.”

One of this years favorite reads!!!!, September 8, 2013

Very Bad Things is quite possibly one of the best books I’ve read yet this year!

Nora Blakely appears to be the perfect girl. Perfect looks, top of her class, talented and parents who are extremely successful. She wants for nothing…except to escape it all! Leo Tate has relocated to Highland Park, Texas with his younger brother and has enrolled him in Briarcrest Academy where Nora is speaking at the registration and open house night as the student body representative. Seven little words, two of them cuss words, change it all!

The connection between Leo and Nora from the first moment their eyes meet is explosive! Leo is the guardian for Sebastian and is opening a new gym in Highland Park. Nora’s life hasn’t been as perfect as it seems and she is ready to take control which includes making several bad choices. One of them leads her to Leo and Sebastian who happen to live across the street from Nora’s aunts bakery. Trying to get a handle on Nora is a challenge in and of itself, let alone dealing with her heart. She is deeply broken and Leo is determined to fix her, but it won’t be easy. The problem with trying to fix someone is that you risk opening your heart…a heart that has its own scars. The struggle between Leo and Nora is intense, emotional and feels so real. The secondary characters in the book are amazing and I fell in love with a few and deeply despised others! Those relationships and interactions help to crack through both of their hardened hearts and open their eyes to what is right in front of them…one another!

The intensity of Leo and Nora’s love is beautiful and heartbreaking. The steam factor of this book is off the charts sizzling!! This is the first book in the series and it is not a cliffhanger, you will however, see them in the other books. Leo and Nora have a special place in my heart and always will…

    Another Fave of 2013 <3 <3

I’ve been totally drawn to this story since the day I watched the trailer, and the freaking gorgeous cover also had me gaga for this book. So, once I finally had it at my wee little fingertips, I DEVOURED it. I could not stop reading, I needed to satiate my hunger for all things Nora Blakely….and Leo Tate too!

Nora, Nora, Nora!!! Girl you’ve gone and rocked my world. I’ve never hoped for a character to come out on top, as I did Nora. She’s the epitome of perfection, beauty, and brains. She has the world at her fingertips and little does she know it, men within arms reach. She may have been fed by the silver spoon, but it wasn’t always skittles rainbows and fluffy unicorns. Nope! Life has been anything but wonderful for Nora. Basically she was thrown to the wolves….and by wolves I mean her wonderful family. They are wolves in sheep’s clothing. Other than the wolves, I was completely intrigued with Nora’s approach on life. She is ready to let go of the good girl persona, and step into the world of carelessness, fun, partying, and God knows what else. She may walk on the wild side, but sometimes life throws you a gazillion curve balls when you least expect it to….enter Leo Tate, Baby!

Dear goodness, Leo had me wrapped around his pinky finger the moment he waltzed into my life. Not only does he have stunningly good looks, he has bad boy written all over him. So yeh he’s super sexy!! And he also shines bright like a diamond, in my eyes. He is a bad boy in every which way, but holy hell he is also one of the kindest men on the planet. Oh did I mention he is also a freaking delicious Rocker Man?!?!?!?! Yeh, he is. He literally will boogie woogie his way into your heart. As much as he is kind and beautiful, he is totally off limits to any woman under the age 25….but little does he know, his world is gonna tilt on its axis when Nora Blakely, not so graciously, enters his life.

I need more Sebastian’s and Mila’s in my life. These two are the very bestest friends ever ever ever!!! I loved them to pieces. They are the type of friends that would bend over backwards to fulfill any request to make Nora happy. They love her completely. They’re her rock when she needs them, and they help keep her sane and somewhat smart when decision making. Seriously, Mila and Seb complete me. They helped Nora spread her wings, so she could to learn to fly!

Wanna talk angst? Well ok. I didn’t know what to expect in the angst dept., but damn it was off the charts. I kept waiting for it to stop. But it didn’t, not once. The angst first begins the second Nora and Leo meet, and then it snowballs from there. Their sexual chemistry is angsty too…..hot damn!!! I could talk for days about the desires and want that was flaming, but it would get boring….so you just need to know it had me at hello! I loved every second of their angst/chemistry factor!

Sooooo…I went into this book thinking things were going to be hunky-dory and all will be right in the world. Well I was in for a surprise. All my first thoughts about this book, flew out the window. They were then replaced with WTH?!?! moments, and swoony ones too! For this being a debut book by Author Ilsa Madden-Mills, she hit the ball out of the park! She wrote a story full of hope, dreams, love, heartache, and chances. If you’re looking for a book to eat up, then this is the one for you. I could not put this book down. I am head over heels in love with it. And I am so eager to continue reading this series. Author Ilsa Madden-Mills turns heartache into extreme contentment and happiness. Your heart will be overjoyed with love and all things Leo and Nora! So go use that lovely little one click finger and purchase your copy of Very Bad Things, Right.This.Minute. Once you’ve done that, hold onto your panties….You’re in for one helluva ride peeps!!!
